Short-term Visit Pass

1. The Short term social visit pass is given to foreign visitors upon arrival for the following purposes:


  1. Social visit
  2. Visiting relatives
  3. Tourism
  4. Journalism / Reporting
  5. Meeting / Conference
  6. Business Discussion
  7. Factory Inspection
  8. Auditing Company Accounts
  9. Signing Agreement
  10. Carrying out a survey on investment opportunities/setting up factory
  11. Attending Seminars
  12. Students on goodwill missions or taking examinations at a university
  13. Taking part in sports competitions
  14. Other activities approved by the Director General of Immigration.

2. Extension of Social Visit Pass

An Extension may be given on Special consideration e.g. due to illness, accident, war in home country etc. The visitor must furnish evidence, and also present a confirmed return ticket to their home country or third country.

3. Required Documents

  1. Applicants must appear in person together with passport
  2. Form IMM.55
  3. Supporting documents (if relevant)
  4. Confirmed ticket to home country or in possession of a visa and ticket to a third country

Long-term Visit Pass

  • The Long Term Social Visit pass may be issued to a foreigner for a temporary stay in Malaysia for a period of not less than six months. Extensions of the period of stay can be given based on the eligibility and fulfilment of certain conditions.
  • Foreign husbands/wives to Malaysians can be given the Social Visit  Pass for a period of 5 years on condition that they comply with all the requirements.
  • They are also allowed to engage in any form of paid employment or in any business or professional occupation without converting the Social Visit Pass to the Employment Pass or Visitor’s Pass (Temporary employment).

E- Visa

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO APPLY

  • Applicant’s passport must be valid for more than 9 months upon arrival in Malaysia.
  • Completely filled Visa application form.
  • 2 recent photographs ( colored photographs with white background)
  • Confirmed return ticket.
  • A covering letter clearly mentioning the purpose of your visit.
  • Bank statements of last three months.

NOTE: If you are going on an official visit then a NO OBJECTION letter is required from your employer.

Application form Specifications

  • Application form must be completely and clearly filled.
  • Your application form must be on a single sheet , i.e both the pages of the form should be printed back to back

Photograph Specifications

  • Applicants photograph should not be more than 6 months old.
  • Colored photograph required.
  • White background.
  • Size 35 X 45 mm.

Note: Scanned photographs are not allowed.

Long-term Visit Pass for Spouses

(Issued to employees with specific skills, categorized as expatriates)

1. Who are classified as Expatriate

  • Foreigners who are qualified to fulfill the following positions :
  • a. Key Post
  • Top Managerial Post of a foreign owned company operating in Malaysia.
    Responsible for looking after the company's interests and investments.
    Responsible for determining the company's policies and goals.
  • b. Executive Post
  • Professional/Middle Managerial Post.
    Required academic and working experience, practical skills related to the respective jobs.
    Responsible for implementing the company's policies and supervision toward the junior staff.
  • c. Non-Executive Post
  • Highly skilled
    Require working experience and technical skills related to the respective jobs.

Dependents Pass

Immigration facilities for dependants of expatriate

1. Dependant Pass

This facility is accorded to families of Expatriate Officials.

2. Who are eligible for the Dependant Pass?

  1. Husband/wife.
  2. Children under the age of 21.
  3. Handicapped/disabled children.
  4. Legally adopted children.

3. Application Procedures

The application for the Dependant Pass can be submitted together with the application for the Employment Pass or after the application for the Employment Pass has been approved.

4. Supporting documents for the application of the Dependant Pass

  1. Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company.
  2. Form DP11A with recent passport size photograph.
  3. Proof of relationship with the Expatriate (a translated copy has to be certified by an Embassy official if the document is neither written in English nor in the Malay Language).
  4. A photocopy of the complete Dependant's Passport (Two copies for PRC citizens)
  5. A photocopy of the complete Expatriate's Passport.

5. Long Term Social Visit Pass

a. Who are eligible for Long Term Social Visit Pass?
Husband/wife and children under 21 years old of Expatriate Official holding the Visitor’s Pass (Temporary Employment)

b. Application Procedures
This Pass can be applied together with an application for Visitor’s Pass (Temporary Employment) of Expatriate or after application for Visitor’s Pass (Temporary Employment) of Expatriate has been approved.

c. Supporting documents for the application of the Long Term Social Visit Pass

  1. Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company.
  2. Form DP11A with recent passport size photograph.
  3. Proof of relationship with the Expatriate (a translated copy has to be certified by an Embassy official if the document is neither written in English nor in the Malay language).
  4. A photocopy of the complete Dependant's Passport (Two copies for PRC citizens)
  5. A photocopy of the complete Expatriate's Passport.

7. Social Visit Pass

a. Who are eligible for the Social Visit Pass?

  1. Parents of Expatriate Official.
  2. Common law wife (required to have confirmation from the Embassy).
  3. Children under 21 years old.
  4. Step-children

b. Application Procedures
Application for the Social Visit Pass can be submitted together with an application for Employment Pass or after the application for Employment Pass has been approved.

c. Supporting documents for the application of the Social Visit Pass

  1. Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company.
  2. Form DP11A with recent passport size photograph.
  3. Personal Bond (RM10.00 Stamped)
  4. Proof of relationship with the Expatriate (a translated copy has to be certified by an Embassy official if the document is neither written in English or in the Malay Language).
  5. A photocopy of the complete Dependant's Passport (Two copies for PRC citizen)
  6. A photocopy of the complete Expatriate's Passport.

7. Social Visit Pass

a. Who is eligible?
Wife of Expatriate Officer holding the Dependant Pass

b. Application Procedures

  1. Application to be submitted in writing to the Director General Immigration or Director of Employment Pass Division or Director of Immigration in the various States.
  2. Does not have any fixed income
  3. Is not involved in any activities which are contrary to the local culture.
  4. Charity Works include:
    1. Old Folks’ Home
    2. Disabled/Handicapped Children’s Home
    3. Orphanage
    4. Welfare Home (a letter from the Welfare Association)
    5. Red Crescent
    6. Special cases as decided by the Director General of Immigration

c. Supporting documents for application for permission to conduct Charity Works

  1. Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company.
  2. Offer Letter
  3. A copy of the Passport that shows proof of the Dependant Pass

Educational Facilities for children of Expatriate Officers

Who are eligible?

  1. Children of Expatriate Officers who are 18 years old and under
  2. Holder of the Dependant Pass who has been given approval prior to applying for a Student Pass

Requirements

  1. Studying in a school or an institution which is recognised by the Government.
  2. Fulfilling all the requirements of a Student Pass application.

Supporting documents for application

  1. Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company.
  2. Letter of confirmation from the Institute of Higher Learning/Secondary School/Primarily School/Pre-school
  3. Copies of the Expatriate's and the Dependant's (Student) Passports
  4. Student's Personal Data Form
  5. Other relevant documents

Working conditions for Dependant Pass holder

The Husband/Wife of the Expatriate Officer holding the Dependant Pass is permitted to work without having to change his/her Dependant Pass to the Employment Pass on condition that he/she acquires working approval from the Immigration Department

Terms and conditions

  1. Job Offer from any company/Government Agency
  2. Prior approval from approving agencies such as: MIDA, MDEC, Bank Negara, Securities Commission, Public Services Department
  3. For those without approval from any agency, application is subjected to conditions laid down by the Expatriate Committee.

Procedures - Work Permit by Endorsement

2 Applications for Work Permit by Endorsement can be submitted on approval of the Dependant Pass or after its issuance.

3. Supporting documents for application:

  1. Applications can be submitted to the Employment Pass Division of the Immigration Headquarter Putrajaya or the nearest Immigration Office in any state.
  2. Applications for Work Permit by Endorsement can be submitted on approval of the Dependant Pass or after its issuance.
  3. Supporting documents for application:
    1. Cover letter and Letter of Authority from the company.
    2. DP11 Form
    3. Job offer or Employment Contract
    4. A photocopy of the complete passport.

Approval of Foreign Domestic Helper for Expatriate Officer

Approval is given to the expatriate who intends to bring in a foreign domestic helper regardless of nationality and age of the helper.

a. Application Procedures

a. Applications can be submitted before or after the Expatriate’s entry into Malaysia.

b. Supporting documents for application:

  1. Cover letter from the Expatriate’s Employer
  2. DP11A Form
  3. Personal Bond which has been stamped with a RM10.00 revenue stamp
  4. Relevant photocopies of passport pages showing recent entry of FDH into Malaysia
  5. Cleared the medical examination at any clinic registered with FOMEMA
  6. Employment Contract (duly Stamped)
  7. Approval from the Philippines Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) for Filipino domestic helpers only.

c. Executive Counter Services
The Executive Counter has been located at Employment Pass Division of the Immigration Headquarter Putrajaya since 2005 and its services have been extended to all Immigration Offices in the country since November 2007. Expatriates holding executives/professional and managerial posts are welcome to make use of the Executive Counter Services.

e. Overlapping Passes
Overlapping Passes for the purpose of taking over key-posts are permitted for a maximum period of 3 months.

Visitor's Pass (Professional)

Issued to a foreigner who hold acceptable professional qualifications or specialist skills and enter Malaysia to take up professional work for short term period not exceeding twelve (12) month.

Applicant must be outside Malaysia at the time of application.
